Software & AI Architect/ Technical Lead – Remote First Ireland

TechHeads is partnering with an established SaaS technology organisation seeking a highly technical Software & AI Architect to help shape the next generation of its cloud-native platform.

This is a hands-on architecture/ technical lead position, working closely with Product and Engineering to define the technical roadmap, modernise the existing platform and introduce AI capabilities into the core product. The successful candidate will have significant ownership over architectural decisions while remaining close to engineering and delivery.

The Role

You will:

• Define and evolve the target architecture and technical roadmap for a high-availability SaaS platform.
• Lead the continued migration from legacy technology to a modern microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Own architectural decisions across Software, AWS Cloud, Infrastructure, Data, Integration and AI.
• Work hands-on with engineering teams through technical design, code reviews, implementation reviews and proof-of-concepts.
• Drive scalability, performance, resilience, security and disaster recovery.
• Help strategically manage and reduce technical debt.
• Establish standards for AI-assisted software development and guide engineers in safely adopting AI/ML capabilities.
• Mentor senior engineers and act as an escalation point for complex technical challenges.

What We’re Looking For

• 8–10+ years’ Software Engineering experience with significant architecture responsibility.
• Strong experience designing and evolving SaaS / cloud-native platforms.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices and scalable infrastructure.
• Strong cloud architecture experience, ideally AWS.
• Experience working in high-availability and security-sensitive environments.
• Strong technical leadership with the ability to remain hands-on.
• Experience with AI/ML architecture or introducing AI capabilities into software products would be highly advantageous.
• Applications are also welcome from strong Principal/Staff Engineers or Technical Leads ready to step into broader architecture ownership.

This is an opportunity to have genuine influence over the technical direction, architecture and AI strategy of an established SaaS product while remaining closely involved with the engineering teams building it.

Salary: €130,000 – €140,000 DOE
